  • Phantasialand

  • Chocolate Museum

    Located between the old town and the Rheinau-harbor, there is a must for young and old! You will get to know the path from raw cocoa to fine praline. Your journey begins in the tropical house and, with delicious samples to taste, you learn the way that cocoa takes from its harvest up to the chocolate factory. Particularly loved by visitors is the ten foot-high fountain, from which 440 lbs of chocolate flow. Which you can of course also try during your visit. In the museum café you can enjoy various chocolate specialties with a spectacular view on the Rhine river.

  • Open Air Museum Kommern

    In the open-air museum in Kommern you will experience how people used to live and work in the Rhineland. 67 historical buildings from the former Prussian Rhine Province were rebuilt on the 95 acre site. See how a peasant woman lived in the "House from Kessenich" in 1871. Encounter the animals in the area, from the rooster on the dung heap to the dairy cows or the farm animal breeds that have been bred back in the museum, such as the Glan-Donnersberger cattle or the German pasture pigs.

    Germany's biggest fireworks spectacle, a music-synchronized fireworks display, will be launched from 11.30 p.m. on the Rhine river, between the Bastei and the Tanzbrunnen. For this purpose, several tons of fireworks are shot into the air by ships, while the background music can be heard throughout the city. The musical supporting program starts in the afternoon in the Tanzbrunnen Cologne. Admission is free. To have a good view of the fireworks, secure a good spot at the Rhine river bank early on. The best view of the popular fireworks display is from the Cologne promenade between the Bastei and Zoobrücke or one of the party & dinner ships on the Rhine. Boat tickets can be booked directly with the organizer.
